Curious? Ask!
Here I answer your questions about 'The Magical Floating Fortress' and Meander Books in general. Feel free to ask questions about the story and the characters or ask me about the development, writing and illustrating or programming.
Questions from class 4c from Merseburg
Greetings from Berlin!
Why is there no reading function?
It's really nice when you can just sit back and listen to a wonderful story. But I think it's even nicer when children discover not only the joy of listening, but also of reading. Reading means freedom! You can immerse yourself in other worlds at your own pace. But I think it's best when people read together! Parents with their children, siblings or friends with each other, or grandparents with their grandchildren. Everyone reads a bit and tries to give the characters a suitable voice. Perhaps there will be a reader in other Meander Books, perhaps I'll be persuaded, but I can't promise it!
Why doesn't it work on all devices?
Here's how it is: I implemented the project all by myself! That was a lot of work for one person! I had to write, illustrate, program, animate and then put everything together in Unity. Unity is a game engine. Of course I want my wonderful reading adventure to be able to be played on as many devices and by as many children as possible. But publishing a game project like this on all devices is not that easy and I still need some time for that! The Android version is coming soon! Promise!
Why doesn't the little sister talk so much?
That's a very good question! I don't really know myself. You should know that I never had a little sister myself - I was the little sister myself. Maybe I've forgotten what it was like when I was as little as Betti. But you're right, of course the younger siblings don't just stand by and keep quiet during an adventure like this. They certainly have a lot to contribute too. I'll have to think about it again. Thank you for the valuable feedback!
Why is the age missing from the profiles?
I left out the age on purpose! I thought that it doesn't really matter whether Frida is 9 years old or 11. Of course you want to know. Curiosity is a great quality! But if I leave the age open, you can decide for yourself how old the three siblings are! You can let your imagination run wild, that's not a bad thing! But if you really want to know, then I'll tell you how old the three siblings are for me: Betti is 4 years old, but will soon be 5. Frida is 9 years old, but when you ask her, she always says: "Almost 10!", even though it's still 5 months until her next birthday. Wilhelm is 12 or 13, I'm not quite sure. What do you think?
Why doesn't Grandpa have a wanted poster?
You are absolutely right! Grandpa clearly needs a wanted poster!
Thank you for your great feedback!
Class 4c from Merseburg has taken on a media sponsorship for "The Magical Floating Fortress" and sent me this great feedback! These media sponsorships are a really great initiative from the German Children's Media Festival Goldener Spatz .
